Your Organizational Journey

Updated: Jan 9

Are you completely overwhelmed? Maybe you have things somewhat organized on the surface, but your closets and drawers need attention. Maybe you are organized and comfortable with your space, but it looks tired.

At any stage of the organization process, remember organization of your space is not a destination, it is a journey! You will always need to maintain and continue to organize your home. Keep in mind … items scattered all over your house, like shoes, socks, books, etc…can’t be organized until you have like items grouped together to know what you do need. It can be mentally exhausting to get rid of stuff, but you must if you want a peaceful calming space.

Set a timer for 15-30 minutes and declutter a drawer or shelf, do this a few times a week or at least a month. Start noticing the spaces in your home and physically remove anything you can "let go" as you come across it. You will be amazed at what progress you will make just identifying trash and items you no longer want or need.

Get rid of your stuff!

You have limited space to store your treasures, so make sure that the items are still treasures and not just old stuff that you do not know what to do with. I recommend starting with getting rid of trash. Simply go into every room and remove trash…just remove trash at this stage.

Easy Tip: Place a shopping bag with handles in each closet and as you come across items when you are getting ready that you no longer wear or want ...drop it into the bag and when the bag is full just take it with you on your normal errands and drop it off at a donation site!
